"If they have no bread, let them eat cake!" - mistakenly attributed to Marie Antoinette but however it was actually first said 10 years before her birth... Such a silly statement but in my life it makes sense. I won't eat bread but hey, there's always room for cake.
I love to cook & bake. I learned how to cook from a young age at my mom's side in the kitchen - her mini sous chef. I learned to bake in baby steps... Betty Crocker & Duncan Hines w. a guest spot by the Pillsbury doughboy (heehee!) were my teachers in my younger years. Fast forward to present day and I use them as a reference or inspiration to make my own homemade spin on their products.
Cooking & baking is therapeutic and fun for me... Cooking savory dishes is fun b/c I can be so flexible with the ingredients. Baking is an exact science and I need to get the ratios JUST right and make it pretty at the same time. You feast with your eyes first you know.
So, here is my little diary of my adventures in the kitchen... Some are successful, some not so much. My pride gets in the way and I probably won't post pictures of the rare failure but I will make sure I live to tell about it.
